Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz took part in the official launch of the 2023 Spanish Grand Prix. The race will be held three weeks from now, on June 4th, at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. The Spaniards will undoubtedly root for their countrymen, Carlos Sainz, and the Aston Martin driver, Fernando Alonso. During the Spanish GP presentation, the Ferrari driver addressed several questions, including Red Bull’s dominance.

The 28-year-old spoke about his time in F1 and how he looks forward to his home race. Sainz then revealed that Ferrari have been trying to find out why Red Bull are faster than the rest of the grid. He confessed there is a lot to understand, and his team tests many things every weekend. However, they are unable to match Red Bull’s pace.

Sainz stated, “We have not started as we expected, which was to fight for podiums and victories. There is a clear dominant team and we are trying to diagnose what the main problem is and how to tune it to recover. We are trying to find the key.” It is no secret that Ferrari want to close the gap to Red Bull. The Maranello outfit also has another challenge this season. They have to outshine Aston Martin, who have emerged stronger than them.

Carlos Sainz says Ferrari are working hard back at the factory

The Spaniard does not understand what his rivals are doing to gain performance. He said, “We cross one thing out and we take advantage of another. We still thoroughly analyze with the whole factory what Red Bull is doing that the rest of us are not doing. One hundred percent is being given in Maranello, the factory totally turned upside down. The drivers are exhausted from simulator work and meetings with engineers. Everything is possible.”

Ferrari started their 2023 season on the back foot. Last year by now, the team was challenging Red Bull. This year, the Milton Keynes outfit have pulled away as they lead both in the drivers and constructors’ championships by a large margin. Carlos Sainz admitted that Ferrari are working hard in Maranello. He hopes things will turn around for them quickly.

Sainz and his teammate, Charles Leclerc, look forward to Ferrari’s significant upgrades. The 28-year-old is fifth in the driver standings with 44 points. Leclerc, who was tenth due to unfortunate events in the first few races, has improved to seventh place and holds 34 points after the Miami GP.

Leclerc is only six points behind Mercedes driver George Russell. Though Ferrari are unable to match the pace of the mighty RB19, there is a long way to go, and the tide might shift in their favor.
