Carlos Sainz’s contract with Ferrari ends in 2025. The possibility of him renewing his deal seemed bleak before the summer break due to Ferrari’s equation with Charles Leclerc. However, the tides have turned after Sainz’s resurgence in form. His P3 at Monza and victory in Singapore have put him in the driver’s seat for the negotiations. As both parties hold out until the end of the season to hold concrete talks, Sainz has revealed that he intends to stay with the Scuderia for the long term.
Sainz said he is comfortable at Ferrari and does not wish to leave. He hopes for positive talks during the winter. He claimed that he loves driving for the team and sees himself becoming a championship contender soon. This statement comes from Sainz after he could not start at the Qatar Grand Prix due to fuel leakage in his car.
“I think there’s never been a doubt that I’m very comfortable at Ferrari, that I want to be here for the medium to long term… it’s the place that I love driving for, and see myself driving and trying to help a world championship soon.” Sainz told Sky Sports.

Carlos Sainz downplays speculations of a rift with Charles Leclerc
Amidst contract negotiations of both Ferrari drivers, several rumors popped up about a possible rift between Leclerc and Sainz. Their race for P3 at Monza was a prime example of the competition between the two. However, both of them have denied the possibility of any tension being there between them. Recently, Sainz again reiterated on the issue.

The rumors were further aggravated after Sainz gave in some solid results after the summer break. He said that the duo have nothing but respect for each other. While they are competitive with each other, Sainz asserted there is nothing more than that. He revealed that both of them often play golf together and even call up other drivers from time to time.
“Charles and I often find ourselves close. We haven’t fought for the title, but for a third place in Monza or a pole, yes, and it wouldn’t be much different for a championship. We had 3 years to train and get to know each other, and we know the respect between us,” said Sainz.
