Carlos Sainz’s journey with Ferrari began in 2021 when he moved from McLaren to drive for his dream team. Since then, the pairing has encompassed both triumphs and setbacks. The current season has been underwhelming and the lowest their collaboration has seen so far. However, Carlos Sainz ’s pride of being a Ferrari driver has not wavered any bit.
Taking the wheel in 2021 from Sebastian Vettel, he was paired alongside teammate Leclerc. The Spaniard quickly made his mark, holding his own against his teammate Charles Leclerc throughout the season. But in 2022, the team unveiled a promising car and Sainz struggled to match Leclerc’s pace. Amidst a difficult season, at the British Grand Prix Sainz clinched his maiden pole position followed by an amazing victory. However, Ferrari’s championship aspirations fell short against Red Bull, dampening the team’s title chances.
2023 dawned with heightened expectations, but Ferrari faced an uphill battle. The SF23’s intricate handling and tire wear posed challenges. Sainz’s adaptability shone, maximising the car’s potential in select races. However, Monaco, Bahrain, and Australia witnessed him grapple with difficulties. Despite this, Spain and Miami showcased his unwavering determination.
Speaking to F1’s official site, Sainz affirmed, “I’m very, very proud.” His sentiment resonates as he elaborated, “Especially making it to a team like Ferrari, wearing red every weekend.” Sainz acknowledged the arduous journey that led him to this pinnacle, the sacrifices and determination invested.
