Azerbaijan Grand Prix in 2017

After the torrential race in Baku, we have finally got the winner of the much-awaited Azerbaijan Grand Prix, and it is none other than the reigning World Champion Max Verstappen. With the upsetting end to Ferrari’s run in Baku as both Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz had to retire early in the race due to power unit problems and hydraulic issues respectively, F1 Twitter exploded with upset fans calling out Ferrari for their flawed race strategies.

Apart from that, the Azerbaijan Grand Prix has embedded a doubt in every Tifosis’ mind about the Ferrari power unit which became the cause behind the retirements of three racers in the Baku race. While Charles Leclerc‘s car started giving out smoke due to his power unit issues, Kevin Magnussen’s car slowed down as he did not have enough power towards the middle of the race, and Guanyu Zhou, who was having a great run in the P9 position, had to retire due to the same reasons.

Following all that went down in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2022, here are the fans’ reaction tweets for the race

While Ferrari, this year’s direct rivals to Red Bull Racing for the Constructors’ Championship, had a disappointing result in Baku, they are now 80 points behind the Milton-Keynnes-based team. Fans reacted to this by claiming that the Championship is in Red Bull’s hands now as Ferrari has just gifted it to them after all the power unit issues.

And then there were some fans talking about how Max Verstappen has cemented his lead in the Championship table with his thunderous win today, after Charles Leclerc had to retire from the race even after starting from the pole position.

At the very start of the race, Sergio Perez was leading with Max Verstappen in his hot pursuit. But then, the two Red Bull racers got into a contest between themselves, from which Max Verstappen came out in the lead. Sergio Perez’s race engineer from Red Bull spoke into the team radio, saying, “No fighting.” Fans reacted to that with hilarious memes.

Some of the fans also tweeted about Mercedes consistent run as they are the only team which has not had any retirements in this season yet.

And in the end, all the Ferrari fans sympathised with Charles Leclerc’s missed race victory as the pole-sitter of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix could not even finish his race because of the Ferrari power unit issues.
