Charles Leclerc was so close but yet so far to win his beloved Monaco GP. Despite stoking a flawless weekend, the Monegasque driver could only finish P4 behind Max Verstappen, after a tactical nightmare by Ferrari. Leclerc looked like a man on a mission at his home Grand Prix, which has haunted him for the last few years because of his inability to finish the race.
But, when he took center stage, he showed nerves of steel going to secure pole on a circuit where it’s next to impossible to overtake. If we add the kind of pace that Leclerc was finding in the principality, it would have taken a miraculous move from his opponent or a mistake from him. But, despite neither of them happening, we saw him slip down three positions.
In a rain interrupted Monaco GP, we expected it to be a tactical battle rather than a fist fight on the track, and the tactical wisdom of Christian Horner caught Ferrari napping and costing Charles Leclerc the win. The Red Bull team Principal called his drivers to the faster intermediate tyres earlier than the two Ferraris helping Sergio Perez to overcut Carlos Sainz and Max Verstappen to do the same with Charles Leclerc, eventually. That was something which made Charles Leclerc extremely angry.

In the recent weeks, we have seen the relationship between the two severely tested and this is something what reminds Martin Brundle of Michael Schumacher’s relationship with Ferrari back in the glory days. He said, “The mutual admiration and affection between Leclerc and Ferrari remind me of the relationship Michael Schumacher had with the team.”
“But that has been severely tested on Leclerc’s side in eight days of two missed glorious victories and wasting the opportunity to regain the lead of the world championship.”
“You must feel sorry for local boy Charles Leclerc. He aced pole position and comfortably led the race, only for strategy to consign him to fourth place,” as reported by planetf1.
We can understand the emotions that the Monegasque driver would have been feeling after seeing his home Grand Prix slip out of his hands for no fault of his own and therefore, Ferrari needs to help him out in his quest to challenge Max Verstappen at the top.
