Ferrari has been the talk of the paddock for the past few weeks. However, their star driver, Charles Leclerc, reckons winning races should be the team’s main objective ahead of the 2024 season. The Monegasque recently mentioned his objectives and how there should be a winning mentality in the team.
The 26-year-old was unable to win a race last year, and his outgoing teammate Carlos Sainz led a brilliant fight in the Singapore Grand Prix to claim his second win in F1, rubbing salt in his wounds. Now, the young Monegasque has claimed that gathering podiums is ‘not enough’ and he aims to win more races.
No, it’s not enough [to finish on the podium]. I mean, I want to win as many races as possible, then we’ll do the counter at the end of the year, and to also understand where we will be after the first race to understand how competitive we are.Charles Leclerc said as reported by express.co.uk.
Leclerc goes on to say that he aspires to win more than two or three races and not just a single win to attribute to his upcoming season. The six-time winner braces himself for the incoming Lewis Hamilton and wants to have the upper hand in the team dynamics.
What does Charles Leclerc think about the SF-24?
Leclerc was uncomfortable with last year’s SF-23 and had several problems with the car. The Monegasque had taken the SF-24 out for the shakedown test in Fiorano and felt that things were much better than 12 months ago.

I remember that after the first lap last year, or it was the first three [or] four laps, I wasn’t really happy with the behaviour of the car. The car was very, very difficult to drive. This year, the car feels healthier and in a better place.Charles Leclerc said as reported by PlanetF1
The 26-year-old reckons that the car is much healthier than its predecessor. Subsequently, the car is more competitive and would be in the fight with the rest of the teams.
The Monegasque now sets his sights on his upcoming campaign and wants to give a tough fight to his teammate. Leclerc is the team’s golden boy and would want the team to be on his side before the arrival of the Briton.
