Formula 1 has witnessed quite a plethora of changes in recent times and ahead of the upcoming Dutch GP, Charles Leclerc has shared his opinion on 24 race calendars. Leclerc feels 24 races is just about the limit as stretching the calendar any further would become a tough gig to juggle.

Formula 1 has witnessed a major boon in its popularity all over the globe and there is an outside demand of having more than 24 races in the future F1 calendars. However, Charles Leclerc does not agree with it, not because of the point of view of the drivers but because of how tough it gets for the rest of the team crew.

While shedding light on the same, he told Autosport, “One side of me understands. It’s not easy if you put yourself in the shoes of Formula 1, we have a sport that is booming, and it’s great to have that. We are very lucky to have that. At the same time, I feel like, at one point, it just gets too much. Not for us drivers, because we have a really good life.”

And I think the drivers that are complaining probably don’t realize that the mechanics, the engineers, the guys on the logistics are here three days before us and leave two days after. I think for them, it starts to be quite a bit.” Via his comments, the Monegasque driver has clearly sympathized with the support staff around F1 drivers.

While Charles Leclerc has shown his disapproval toward the idea of having more than 24 races in a year, he has some things that require his immediate attention. Ferrari is in a battle with the lights of Mercedes and Aston Martin for P2 in the Constructors Championship and it is up to Leclerc and Carlos Sainz to help the team in achieving it.

Moreover, the SF-23 has proved to be quite a tricky piece of machinery so far in the ongoing season and the onus is going to be on Fred Vasseur and Co. to provide Leclerc and Sainz with a strong car for the remainder of the season. As things stand, the Maranello-based team is in fourth position in the standings.

However, one thing that’s going for Ferrari is that the gap between them and Mercedes who is in P2 is not huge. It is quite manageable but the Italian outfit would have to hit the ground running during the second leg if they are to close down the gap. The remaining 10 races of the 2023 F1 season will prove to be a fascinating watch.
