Charles Leclerc escapes PENALTY for engine change in Montreal
Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc
Charles Leclerc has been in the news this week for one reason or the other and after today, it has been made clear that Leclerc is not going to get a penalty for the Canadian Grand Prix despite the Monegasque racing with a new engine in Canada.
Throughout this week there was talk of Charles Leclerc getting a potential Grid penalty for a 3rd PU on his F1-75 but after the recent reveal, it seems the 24-year-old has somehow managed to escape the penalty that was almost guaranteed to come his way for the Canadian Grand Prix.
Motorsport via TWITTER has informed everyone about the latest developments in the Leclerc case and has written, “There will be no penalty for Leclerc but he will race with a new engine.”
This news has come out of the blue and is certainly not going to please the Red Bull camp. Ferrari has been in red hot form this season when it comes to Qualifying and has out-performed Red Bull on most occasions.
Charles Leclerc will have a spring in his step in Canada
Charles Leclerc after starting the Azerbaijan Grand Prix from pole position was not able to finish because of a mechanical issue but now that Leclerc is free of any penalty for Canada, he is going to give his all to get back to winning ways and start closing the gap to Verstappen and Perez in the Drivers Championship.
Leclerc is currently on 116 points and is quite far behind Verstappen who has got 150 points to his name. Given the huge gap between the two, it is high time for Leclerc and Co. to start churning out results because otherwise, the 2022 Championship is going to slip away from the reach of the young Leclerc.
Earlier the Championship battle was only between Leclerc and Verstappen but now with Sergio Perez’s resurgence, the Monegasque has got another player to contend with and it will be quite fascinating to see how the three would perform during the Canadian GP.
