Ferrari surprised their fans and, apparently, even themselves as they topped both Free practice sessions on the opening day at Singapore. Charles Leclerc, who topped FP1 and emerged as the second fastest driver of the day, prays of good fortunes for the Prancing Horse.

Charles Leclerc commented on Ferrari’s surprising day and the challenge they might face on Saturday. He said, “I expect the others to be much faster tomorrow. So let’s see”. The Ferrari driver also talked about not wanting any ‘bad’ surprises from Ferrari itself, saying “I hope we won’t have any bad surprises and that we will be less competitive than what we think we are at the moment. But for now everything looks good. I hope it will be the same tomorrow.”

Charles has started on Pole in the last two Singapore GPs and will hope to remain competitive throughout the weekend. Ferrari famously landed a pole position at Monza just two weeks ago but were nowhere close to the Red Bull on Sunday. The Ferrari duo will be hoping for a change in course at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.

The Spanish driver seemed quite confident about Red Bull catching up to Ferrari despite topping on Friday. Verstappen, in his Red Bull, finished over seven tenths behind Carlos Sainz. Yet the Ferrari driver insisted, “At the long-run pace, they looked like the strongest car. Once they sort out the one-lap pace they’ll be there fighting for pole.”

Ferrari seemed to have shocked themselves along with everyone else. The Shock seems too good to be true for the Spaniard as he believes that Ferrari will have to fight with all guns blazing to have a chance at glory.
