Charles Leclerc presumes relations with Max Verstappen could turn to loath, “things will get more tense”

Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen had a very mature relationship fighting for the Championship in the first few races of the season. But things could turn out pretty quick, as we saw last season.

In the early days of their career, we saw Charles and Max not having the relationship they have today. It was the opposite, they had a lot of anger and hate for each other, and saw each other more as an enemy than a rival.

Agrees the Ferrari driver as well ”We were very young and we took things in a different way with a lot of anger, I remember. I hated him as much as he hated me at that time,”.

It was more evident seeing the famous incident, or as Charles said “Inchident”  that occurred when both the drivers were racing each other when they were in their karting days.

Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen have a relationship that improved with time and is now just “Fine” as explained by the Red Bull driver himself. When asked about the karting incident Verstappen had a laugh and accepted that he lost but he has now seen a lot of losses now, and that settles everything. He also stated that Charles is one of the most talented drivers in Formula 1.

“I never speak about these things with other drivers,” Verstappen laughed in a video interview. “I mean, it happens. I’ve lost wins, as well, and it’s not the end of the world, you move on. I think Charles is one of the most talented drivers in Formula One, and he will win many more races.”

He also mentioned fighting for big brands now has helped them to get themselves together with each other. They know each other for a long time now and can enjoy the battles they have now as both of their dreams to drive in Formula 1 have come true. Which could be a reason for them to fight hard when they were young.

“I would say back in the day it was a little bit more difficult, but also (we) were very young and growing up and you are fighting for the same goal, right?”. “Now that you’re in Formula One, I think it is really different. You are representing really big brands. So we get on very well now. We can have a good chat and enjoy our battles, and I think that’s very nice,” said Verstappen in an interview with The Associated Press.

Agreeing to watch the Dutchman said, Charles keeps similar views and explains that the karting days were more aggressive and they actually hated each other. But now as both are mature and have achieved the dream it is more professional and has great mutual respect.

In karting, we were there for the win, but we were also very young”. I hated him as much as he hated me at that time, but now we are grown up we are a lot more mature, we respect each other and we have both achieved a dream to be driving in F1.”

But there is still a fear of getting all the old feelings to come out if things get similar in the last few races as they are in the first few “I’m pretty sure that when there are only five races left to the end [of the year] if we are still in the position we are in now fighting for the championship, things will get more tense, but that’s the way it is and that’s how racing is,” reported Charles to ESPN.
