Scuderia Ferrari has failed to win the F1 world championship since 2008. The Italian team has undergone many changes during this period, including signing big names such as Sebastian Vettel and Fernando Alonso. Yet, Maranello has simply been unable to win at the pinnacle of motorsport. Although Charles Leclerc is convinced that new team boss Fred Vasseur can finally overturn the team’s prospects.

Though, Charles believed the Frenchman could finally be the leader who would bring the Italian team back to winning the F1 world title. He continued, “It is what we want to achieve with Fréd. Do I think that with Fréd I will be able to win a World Championship? I sincerely feel that he is the right person to return Ferrari ahead.” Fred has made major changes since joining the team at the start of 2023.

Leclerc insists that Jean Todt is no fair comparison for Vasseur

The Monegasque driver was asked if Vasseur emulates the legendary Jean Todt. However, the 25-year-old declined to compare his current Team Principal with the man who achieved unprecedented success with Ferrari. Leclerc said, “I don’t want to compare Fréd with Jean Todt, nor me with Michael Schumacher, because it would not be correct.”

The Ferrari driver pointed out that the Frenchman can easily identify the areas where improvement is necessary and rapidly bring in change. Charles Leclerc explained, “( Fréd ) You have a very good view of what the team needs to progress, weaknesses, or failures that may seem very obvious from the outside, but what exactly can you do to improve that department? There Fréd has a great eye to understand how progress can be made.”

Thus Charles Leclerc is confident that Fred Vasseur understands how to handle the difficult task of running Scuderia Ferrari. The 25-year-old appreciates the leadership style of the Frenchman as Fred works on overhauling Maranello. Vasseur seems to be the suitable team boss who can fix the areas that have long-affected the team’s performance in Formula 1.
