Ferrari and Charles Leclerc came into the 2023 F1 season with heaps of hope and determination to win the championship. While it was evident that Red Bull would be the ones to beat in the current season, they underestimated the Milton Keynes based squad. After pre-season testing,  the Scuderia also were faced by a threat going by the name of Aston Martin.

During the 2023  Bahrain GP, Charles Leclerc started P3 with Red Bull drivers Max Verstappen giving the team a 1-2 qualifying finish for the season opening race. While this seemed like motivation for Leclerc to chase for the victory, all hope was lost during the race. Having raced for 39 laps on the Bahrain international circuit, the Ferrari driver had to stop the car on track due to an issue.

This came as a massive disappointment due to the Ferrari driver being on track to secure a P3 finish for the team. The team had replaced the ERS system battery in the morning. They further went on to change the control unit as a precaution but it did not help. This left all the Tifosi and F1 fans wondering as to why their driver had to retire from the opening race of the 2023 F1 season.

Charles Leclerc’s DNF was an alleged human error

It seems like there was a current leakage in the wiring which further lead to Charles Leclerc’s DNF. It would have been most likely due to the vibrations on the Bahrain international circuit or the actual temperature on track which might have affected burned the electronics. The job of making sure that all the parts in the car are in the perfect condition lies with the quality department.

This puts the impression that the mistake was due to a ‘human error’ in their way of functioning.  From the first race, it seems like Ferrari is focusing on securing their P2 in the constructors and competing with Aston Martin and Fernando Alonso. Meanwhile, two-time world champion Max Verstappen is on course to run away with the 2023 F1 title, it will be interesting to see whether Charles Leclerc and Ferrari can improve in order to secure a world title.
