NASCAR star, Chase Briscoe is looking forward to racing against the F1 legends at COTA on the 26th of March.
Kimi, Chase, and, Jenson
Chase Briscoe, the Stewart-Haas racing driver, has talked about his upcoming battle against former F1 World Champions, Kimi Raikkonen, and Jenson Button. Briscoe is set to lock horns with the two legends in the NASCAR Cup Series on the 26 of March. Ahead of the mega showdown, he is very excited and eagerly waiting for the day to arrive.
Chase Briscoe grew up in a small town of only 3000 folks. Moreover, he never in his wildest imagination thought that one day he would get the chance to try his mettle against elite F1 drivers. It is one thing going up against F1 drivers, but when it comes to going wheel-to-wheel with F1 Champions, the level of competition goes to another whole level.
Jenson Button is making his NASCAR debut at the upcoming event and will be seen driving a Rick Ware Racing Ford. Kimi Raikkonen, on the other hand, would be seen behind the wheel of a car prepared by Trackhouse Racing. Chase is aware of the mettle of the drivers that he is up against at COTA, but despite this fact, he is confident in his own abilities to be able to show himself well against the F1 legends. Jenson Button will also be seen driving for Rick Ware Racing Ford at COTA, and Chase feels that the F1 driver will help the team a lot in maximizing the performance of the car.
Chase Briscoe’s take on racing against F1 drivers
Chase Briscoe is no stranger to sharing his NASCAR knowledge with F1 drivers. Last year, he had a chance to meet Schumacher and Magnussen and was very impressed with what the two could do in a stock car. While talking about it, he added, “Last year, I kind of did that in a driver swap with Mick Schumacher and Kevin Magnussen.”
“They only ran like five laps a piece at the (Charlotte) Roval. They were within a second of what I was running at pretty much 100%.” Briscoe has indicated that F1 drivers are quick learners. Moreover, he was surprised by how close the Haas duo was able to come to the time that was set by him.
While Briscoe has been making his trade in NASCAR for quite some time, he has talked about his desire to race in an open-wheel car. He wants to feel the wind gushing around his face at high speeds. He is also interested in understanding how different the experience would be going around various kinds of circuits.
He further said, “Last year, we were actually close to a thing where I was going to go to Brooklyn and run some laps in the Formula E car. I’ve been fortunate to drive the Ford Mach E 1400, and to feel 1,400 horsepower electric was unbelievable.”
Looking at Briscoe’s comments, it seems, that he is thrilled about the opportunity of racing against the F1 Champions. However, he also wants to feel the adrenaline that pumps in the body when racing in an open-wheel car. However, the task that is just around the corner is the COTA tussle, and considering everything, how would chase fair against Raikkonen and Button?
