“Checo is a legend,” Fans applaud Sergio Perez for blatantly ‘wagging finger’ at crowd for booing Lewis Hamilton at Mexican GP
Sergio Perez and Lewis Hamilton
Sergio Perez, the Red Bull driver, came to Lewis Hamilton’s aid during the post-race interviews of the Mexican GP when the Brit was greeted with incessant booing.
Sergio Perez wagged his finger toward the crowd, and asked fans at the stadium section of the Autodromo Hermano Rodriguez Circuit, to stop their booing of Lewis Hamilton who ended his exploits ahead of the Mexican in P2.
This incident has received quite a decent reaction from fans on the web who have shown respect and applauded the actions of Sergio Perez.
The F1 fans after seeing the actions of the Red Bull starlet have got nothing but huge respect for him as not every driver comes forward to do what he did at his home Grand Prix.
Moreover, the fascinating part was that, when the 32-year-old asked the fans to stop booing the Brit, they actually listened and immediately shied away from becoming a nuisance for Hamilton.
Sergio Perez came third in front of his own fans at the Mexican GP
The sole target for Sergio Perez, ever since landing in Mexico was to get the win, no matter what, in front of his home fans, however, while he started the race from a good P4 position, he was not able to make much of an impression on the front runners and ended up P3.
His teammate, Max Verstappen started the race from P1, and from the get-go, the Dutchman drove like a man possessed and proved too difficult a task to overtake.
As the race carried on, the 25-year-od was able to stretch his advantage at the front and by the time the chequered flag fell on the race, he won the Grand Prix with a buffer of over 15 seconds on Lewis Hamilton who ended his exploits in second.
Now, with the Mexican adventure done and dusted, the F1 extravaganza is going to move to Brazil for the penultimate race of the 2022 season, and considering there are only two races left, would Sergio Perez be able to land his RB18 on the spot in the remaining races.
The Mexican would ideally like to close off the 2022 season with another win to his name and it would be fascinating to see if he would be able to get the better of Verstappen.
