Christian Horner accuses F1 rivals of ‘underhand’ attempts to jeopardize Red Bull’s financial stability during cost cap saga

Red Bull Racing breached the F1 cost cap in 2022. The Austrian team was found guilty of a procedural breach and was given a multi-million dollar fine. Additionally, Milton Keynes will also have reduced time for CFD and wind tunnel testing for this season. However, team boss Christian Horner recently declared that the rivals tried to sabotage the financials of Red Bull after the incident.
The 49-year-old mentioned the negative publicity Red Bull received during this period. Christian Horner stated, “It tainted us.” The Briton opened up on how competitors try to capitalize on such a major issue to bring the team into further trouble. He explained, “These things get used by your rivals.” The rest of the grid did not shy away from attacking Red Bull over the cost cap violation.
Christian Horner exposed an activity conducted by a rival team. Allegedly, the team contacted Red Bull’s partners and hinted at parting ways with the Austrian team to save their image. Horner continued, “We had one of them contacting our sponsors and partners. Making suggestions that we would be bringing their brands into disrepute” Although, the Briton did not mention the team. He was unhappy with this incident. The 49-year-old concluded, “That was just underhand.”

As such it is crucial that the partners remain on board with Red Bull for the team to continue its success in the sport.
