The 2023 Formula 1 season has just got two remaining on the calendar. While the season is ending, the new pit lane rules that the FIA introduced recently have been making a lot of noise for all the wrong reasons. Several people have already given their verdict, and the Red Bull team principal, Christian Horner, has also joined the list.
Christian Horner has been around the pinnacle of motor racing for a long time and has closely watched how the sport has evolved. He believes that F1 is getting too complicated and thinks the new pitlane rules have made life quite difficult for the drivers and the teams.
Horner has always been straightforward with his words. While talking about the recently launched FIA pit rules, he clarified that he wants the decision-makers to create a permanent fix rather than applying pasters to cover the root problems.
We’re just making it too complicated. There is a rule for driving out of the garage, driving in the pit lane, driving out of the pit lane. You have to go to basics – why are the drivers needing to do these out laps and whatever?" Is it tyre pressure? Is it the tyre temperature? Go to the root cause of the problem because it is something that didn’t exist in F1 for 50 years.Horner said, as reported by Speedcafe.
Christian Horner and Co. have had a rewarding 2023 campaign
While Christian Horner has made his displeasure known with the new pitlane rules, overall, his Red Bull F1 team could not have asked for a better 2023 campaign. The Milton-Keynes-based team has won both the Driver’s as well as well as the 2023 Constructors World Championship.
Max Verstappen has perfectly led the team’s charge and has pretty much operated in a league of its own. Out of the twenty races that have taken place so far, the prolific Dutchman has won a brilliant seventeen of them. Sergio Perez, the other Red Bull driver, has won two of them.

While everything has gone as per plan for Christian Horner’s team so far, one other thing that could add a few more stars to Red Bull’s 2023 campaign is Sergio Perez managing to finish second in the driver’s standings behind Verstappen. It would be the perfect icing on the cake for them.
