The Red Bull team principal, Christian Horner, is quite confident about their reigning world champion’s position in the team. Max Verstappen has a contract till the end of 2028, but the ongoing unrest has led to speculations of his possible move to Mercedes in upcoming seasons.
Christian Horner’s controversy and the ongoing internal politics and power struggles have added more fuel to the fire. Of course, many team principals have their eyes set on the Dutchman.

But surprisingly, Horner is extremely calm about the situation.
We are 100% calm and at peace about the fact that Verstappen will remain with us.Christian Horner said in an interview with Sky F1
From the perspective of the sport, and the performance that Red Bull is showing, there is no reason for Max Verstappen to move to another team. Red Bull is stronger than ever as their challenger RB20 is flying across the grid. The team has proved extremely mighty for the past couple of seasons. The only reason Verstappen will ever give a thought to switching would be if Red Bull fails to provide him with potent machinery.
Max Verstappen is ‘confident’ about the ongoing Japanese GP weekend
After a terrible weekend at the Australian GP, Verstappen has got off to a better start during the ongoing Japanese GP weekend. During FP1, he was the quickest, unfortunately, due to the light rain, he had to sit out of FP2 as the team decided to save the tires.

The 26-year-old took the time to dwell on his Friday running after the end of the FP2 session.
Of course, in FP2 we couldn’t do anything, which was a shame as this means that we don’t know the long run pace, but we can’t do anything about the weather. There are a few things that we still want to look at tomorrow, but overall I felt quite happy with what we had and the laps that we did. Suzuka is usually a good track for the Team, so we are confident going into the weekend.Max Verstappen said during post FP2 interviews
Verstappen: Of course, in FP2 we couldn’t do anything, which was a shame as this means that we don’t know the long run pace, but we can’t do anything about the weather. In general, it looks like everyone is a bit closer compared to last year and I don’t expect the same kind….

Some years ago, Verstappen was a bit intimidated by the Suzuka circuit but now, he views it as one of his favorite tracks. Red Bull had a good overall pace during FP1 and FP2, but, the other teams are also catching up, it would be interesting to see who would claim the bragging rights at the end of Sunday’s Japanese GP.
