Sergio Perez has had a rough 2023 F1 season. The Mexican driver has failed to meet expectations at Red Bull alongside teammate Max Verstappen. However, Checo has improved in the last couple of weeks after a decent performance in Brazil. Now, Team Principal Christian Horner believes that Perez could have an even better result at the Las Vegas GP.
Horner praised the 33-year-old for his decent result at Interlagos. The Red Bull team boss claimed that Perez would certainly feel more confident heading into the Las Vegas GP next weekend. Moreover, the Briton reckoned that Checo’s performance in Brazil showed what the Mexican driver can achieve on a good day.
It’s important for his confidence. I think that was the Checo in Brazil that we know, and you know what he’s capable of.
Christian Horner said as reported by Total-Motorsport
The Red Bull team boss was convinced that Perez’s P4 in Brazil gave him the much-needed boost for the remaining two races of the season. Christian Horner pointed out that the Mexican driver has always been strong on street circuits. As such, Sergio Perez could manage to get an impressive result in the streets of Las Vegas.
And that’ll give him just the boost he needs going into another street track that he’s always, you know, performed well out in Vegas. And then Abu Dhabi one week.
Red Bull remain the favorites for the Las Vegas GP
Red Bull have dominated the 2023 season. Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez have won all but one race so far this year. Many expect Verstappen to stand on the top step of the podium at the inaugural Las Vegas GP next weekend. However, the three-time world champion has mentioned that he is not fond of the nature of the event.

Max Verstappen claimed that the Vegas race is meant to be more of a show than an actual Grand Prix. Nevertheless, the 26-year-old will be looking to take home another win next weekend. The Red Bull RB-19 remains the dominant force on the grid despite rivals such as McLaren and Mercedes trying to catch up with Milton Keynes. Although, Sergio Perez hasn’t won a race since the first half of the season.

Certainly, Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez are likely to enjoy a pace advantage in the streets of Las Vegas. However, the cold temperatures during the race could make an impact on the pecking order. The Austrian team would be looking to get the most out of the car in Sin City. Although, it remains to be seen if Perez can potentially match Verstappen at the Las Vegas GP.
