Christian Horner and Helmut Marko are the two pillars around which the Red Bull Formula 1 team revolves. The duo has acted as the backbone of the Milton-Keynes-based team for several years, and the 49-year-old has recently shed light on Marko’s no-filter style when addressing the media.
The Formula 1 paddock is well aware of the bluntness with which Helmut Marko has been giving his interviews since taking over the role of Red Bulls team adviser. He has always been brash and speaks his mind without making a fuss about the opinions of others. This is something that Horner feels makes the Austrian quite a handful.
While sharing his thoughts on the same, he told ESPN F1 podcast, “Communication wise, he is a nightmare.” (laughs) “So when Helmut goes rogue, then you guys only need to prod him, and you will get a headline.” Horner has straightforwardly pointed to how brash the 80-year-old could be when giving interviews.
Helmut Marko has a long history of being extremely straightforward, and an example of it could be taken from the past interviews he gave around Sergio Perez and, especially, Nyck De Vries. He was extremely critical of the latter before his sacking from AlphaTauri, and this is one train that sets him apart in the F1 paddock.
Christian Horner and Co. are on an upward trajectory in F1
While Christian Horner has pointed to Helmut Marko’s bluntness, the duo is extremely pleased with how the Red Bull F1 team has performed in the 2023 F1 season. The outfit has bashed its competition, and none of the other teams have been able to stand up against the might of the RB19.
In the hands of Max Verstappen, the car has proven to be lethal machinery, and this is one of the main reasons why Red Bull is a happy bunch during the 2023 season. The team has won all 12 races, and the way the campaign has panned out for them so far, they are looking all set to amass a lot more victories during the second leg of the season.
The 2023 Dutch Grand Prix is quite a few weeks away, and considering that F1 is currently in its summer break, Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez will return fully recharged to take on the remaining races of the campaign. The Red Bull Formula 1 team is on for a special season this year.
