Daniel Ricciardo has been on a rollercoaster of a ride in recent times at the pinnacle of motor racing. From joining Red Bull as a reserve driver for 2023 to getting an unexpected drive with AlphaTauri, he’s had some seasons so far. While his ultimate aim is still to get back in the Red Bull team as a racing driver, Christian Horner has admitted that his age will not hinder his prospects.
Daniel Ricciardo is currently 34 years old, and by the time 2025 approaches, he will already be 36 years of age, looking at his later 30s. However, while things might seem tough for him from the outside to get the Red Bull seat again, Christian Horner has assured that the Australian’s age will not play a major role in the team’s decision-making.
While shedding light on the same, the Brit said, as reported by Speedcafe, “I don’t see age as a barrier. If Checo delivers, we’ll keep going with Checo. If he doesn’t, for whatever reason, then it’s… but that won’t be just restricted to AlphaTauri drivers, because there’s an awful lot of drivers up and down the pit lane that would like to drive a Red Bull car.”
Looking at the comments of Horner, two things are pretty clear. First, Daniel Ricciardo has a great shot at securing the 2025 Red Bull F1 set, and second, just like him, the other drivers on the current grid would also be considered if Sergio Perez cannot deliver as per the Austrian outfits’ expectations.

Daniel Ricciardo is desperate to get back to winning ways in F1
While Christian Horner has admitted that the second seat at Red Bull for 2025 is wide open, Daniel Ricciardo is one driver who is extremely desperate to get the coveted seat. He has in the past won quite a few races with the Austrian team and is fully focused to bring back the good old times.
However, it will not be like a walk in the park for the former eight-time Grand Prix winner. His current stint with the Faenza-based AlphaTauri team could make or break his aspirations at the pinnacle of motor racing. In order to make a strong case, he has to beat his teammate, Yuki Tsunoda this year.
Otherwise, his Formula 1 career could come to an end sooner than expected. The 2023 campaign is returning on the 25th of August, and from Zandvoort onward, Horner and Co. would be keeping close tabs on the exploits of Daniel Ricciardo in AlphaTauri’s AT04. The remaining races of the ongoing campaign are going to hold a lot of significance for Ricciardo.
