Max Verstappen, the reigning world champion, has annihilated his competition during the 2023 F1 season. He has been in stupendous form, and none of his rivals have been able to pose a serious challenge against him. He has a chance of wrapping up the title during next month’s Qatar GP weekend, and the Red Bull team principal, Christian Horner, has recently given his take on the prospect of his driver securing the title during the Qatar Sprint race.
The chances of Max Verstappen clinching his third consecutive F1 title in Qatar were slim ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix weekend. However, considering how the Suzuka race panned out for Sergio Perez, Verstappen’s prospects have improved 10-fold. Moreover, if everything goes as planned for him, he could wrap up the title during the Sprint event.
A lot has already been said about Verstappen and his 2023 Qatar prospects, and Christian Horner has also recently jumped on the bandwagon and told Sky Sports, “It’s about getting that trophy, getting that third title to his name. The fact that it’s done in Qatar on a Saturday evening would make Sunday even more enjoyable to go into that grand prix, if he achieves it, as a three-time world champion. So I don’t think it really matters.”

Looking at the comments of the 49-year-old, it is quite clear that he does not really care about whether Verstappen secures the world championship on a Saturday during the Sprint or during the main race on the next day. All that matters to Red Bull is seeing the 25-year-old lift his well-deserved championship as soon as possible.

Max Verstappen has operated on a whole new level in 2023
While Christian Horner is counting down the days to next month’s Qatar GP, one thing that cannot be taken for granted is the level at which Max Verstappen has operated during the 2023 Formula 1 season. The Dutchman has proven to be extremely dominant in the RB19 and has brilliantly led the charge of the Milton-Keynes-based team.
Moreover, as things stand, the 25-year-old has managed a massive 400 points in the campaign with thirteen Grand Prix wins and fifteen podium finishes. He has won the bulk of the races this year, and considering this, it does not come as a huge surprise that he is on the verge of securing the 2023 title during next month’s Qatar event.

Red Bull has been the top dog under the new regulations that kicked in at the start of the 2022 F1 season. The team has been immensely dominant, but what has put them in a class of their own is the prolific racing skills of Max Verstappen. Despite all their technological might, Verstappen is their most prized possession.
