Reigning world champion Max Verstappen won his third race of the 2023 season at the Miami Grand Prix. The event witnessed a spectacular battle between the Dutchman and his teammate, Sergio Perez. Red Bull dominated the weekend. Both their drivers finished on the podium. The Milton Keynes outfit have won all five races this season with four 1-2 finishes.
Team boss Christian Horner was delighted after Verstappen and Perez secured a solid result for the team at the Miami Grand Prix. Verstappen qualified ninth on Saturday but zoomed through the pack and won the race. It is his second win at the Miami International Autodrome. Horner was amazed by Red Bull’s dominance. He even questioned what happened to his rivals, Mercedes and Ferrari.
Horner spoke to Sky Sports F1 about Red Bull’s achievements so far. He stated, “Five races, five wins plus the sprint, and four one-two finishes – we’ve never had a start like this and we’re kind of wondering ‘where are the others?’ We’ve made a normal step, we think, over the winter, and it’s more where did Ferrari and Mercedes go?”
Christian Horner says Red Bull have not ruled out Ferrari and Mercedes

Horner believes Mercedes and Ferrari are working on a significant upgrade for the upcoming races. He said, “I’m sure they’re working on big upgrades for Europe and with the penalty we have to develop the car later in the year, it’s important we have to get as much fresh air between ourselves and the opposition at this stage.” The Red Bull boss has not ruled out his rivals completely.
Despite Red Bull’s dominance, Christian Horner claims that the cost cap penalty will impact the team. Hence, they want to be selective in what they test and develop. The 49-year-old added that it has been a great start for Red Bull. They did not have big issues to solve and were able to focus on incremental gains. However, Horner wants to remain cautious.
Max Verstappen is leading the 2023 Formula 1 championship standings. He is 14 points clear of Sergio Perez after the Miami Grand Prix. Red Bull had the race pace advantage in Miami. However, the Dutchman believes Ferrari and Mercedes might close the gap at the upcoming Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.
There are only two weeks left for the race in Imola. There is no doubt that Red Bull will have something up their sleeves.
