Red Bull team principal, Christian Horner has declared that the Las Vegas Grand Prix will be the biggest sporting event globally in 2023. There is a lot of hype around the Las Vegas GP. After all, it is the “Sin City”. To see the lights go out and the cars hit the road at high speed, buzzing around the city, is every Formula One fan’s dream.

Christian Horner made this striking remark while speaking to the podcast from Bloomberg. He analyzed the sport’s growth globally, especially in the United States. His claim that the Vegas GP will be the “biggest sporting event” is a huge statement, considering the famous Super Bowl. The Las Vegas Grand Prix will be the third race held in the US. The Austin GP and Miami are the other two races.

While discussing the Formula 1 race tracks, Horner stated, “I think you have got to protect the old circuits like Monacos, Silverstones and the Monzas. But then to bring in new circuits, we had Miami last year as a new venue and this year we’ve got Las Vegas. I have never seen the hype around a race like that, I think it’s going to be the biggest sporting event on the globe this year. The demand for that race is off the charts.”

Horner added, “I think the whole phenomenon through Drive to Survive has just introduced Formula One to a whole new audience, a younger audience and very much an American audience. Formula One is on fire at the moment and what Drive to Survive has done, it’s done a great job of explaining the sport and bringing in a new fanbase. A young fanbase, and a female fanbase as well.” The Red Bull team, boss, credited the Netflix show for the increase in Formula One’s popularity.

Christian Horner admitted that the series showed what goes on behind the scenes and provided the fans with exclusive footage. He feels that it is a bit like the “Kardashians on wheels” at times. Formula One’s growth is remarkable. Attending a Grand Prix has become a new trend today. Everyone wants to be there, the 2022 season has the highest number of viewers.

Horner is ecstatic at the moment as Red Bull is unbeatable. The other teams are nowhere near the Bulls in terms of pace. The first race of the season is over, and Max Verstappen won by an incredible margin. Sergio Perez finished second, making it 1 & 2 for the team. The team is in a league of its own. And Horner would love to win the much-hyped Las Vegas GP in November. Well, who wouldn’t?
