Christian Horner raises concern about the budget cap: “It’s giving us a lot of headaches”

Christian Horner is definitely not happy with the restrictions on the budget imposed by the FIA on all the teams. Red Bull has looked the most impressive team as far as the development of the car goes and is one of the very few teams which has not faced the effects of porpoising at all. But we all know it’s equally important for the teams to keep improving the car or all their hard work can be washed away in a matter of races.

The FIA had set the upper limit at $140 million, which is proving to be a problem for most of the teams. This was done to make it a level playing field for all the teams. But, it’s not proving to be the same as teams like Haas are finding it difficult because of the money spent on crashes. Another factor which hasn’t been taken into consideration is the global inflation, which has risen considerably.

Red Bull has made some major updates to the RB-18 for the crucial British GP. But, there have been speculations that they can’t continue to spend so heavily because there is a high chance of them finding themselves with nothing, come the end of the season. Therefore, Christian Horner has time and again raised this question to find a solution along with the FIA.

It’s important to have a budget cap but it’s equally important to not let it hinder the racing action on the track. Christian Horner, speaking on the same issue, said, ““We are doing everything we can to work as efficiently as possible.”

“It’s giving us a lot of headaches. Teams at the front and back of the grid will always have a difference of opinion, but nobody could have predicted beforehand that there would be this level of inflation.”

The inability to upgrade the car is not the only problem caused by the budget ceiling,” as reported by gpblog.

This issue is definitely something that FIA needs to look into before it stops the progress of the team. We all want to see a battle but this could be a roadblock in that quest.
