Max Verstappen has dominated the 2023 F1 season. The Dutch driver has had a historic run this year with several new records to his name. Certainly, the 26-year-old deserved to celebrate his third consecutive championship with Red Bull. Now, Red Bull Team Principal Christian Horner has stated that he had to try and prevent Verstappen from getting a hangover.
Horner revealed that the three-time world champion was excited to celebrate his new title during the Qatar GP weekend. Subsequently, the Red Bull crew went on to have a few drinks together in honor of Max Verstappen. However, Verstappen won the 2023 title on a Saturday in the Qatar GP F1 Sprint. As such, the team needed to be in a healthy state for the Sunday race.
He’s just a good guy and he’s a fun guy. He’s old-school as well. He won the championship in Qatar, and I said, ‘Okay, let’s get the whole team together. We’ll just have a couple of drinks. It’s not every day you win a world championship.’But it was unusual to win it on a Saturday, right? We’ve a grand prix by the way, in 42 degrees, on Sunday. So everybody needs to be in bed at a sensible time.
Christian Horner said on the eff won podcast (H&T: wtf1)
Christian Horner revealed that Max Verstappen had multiple drinks that night. Specifically, the Dutch driver enjoyed five gin and tonics. The Red Bull team boss claimed that Verstappen and the entire team had to be sent back home to avoid having a disaster on Sunday. Unsurprisingly, many in the crew were suffering from a hangover the next day.
Max is five gin and tonics in, and we need to stop, everybody needs to go to bed now. So, everybody was hanging [hungover] on Sunday.
Max Verstappen continues to dominate Formula 1
The Dutch driver has truly performed at an outstanding level since the start of the ground-effect era in Formula 1. Verstappen further increased his lead over the rest of the grid this year behind the wheel of the iconic Red Bull RB-19. The three-time world champion has even defeated teammate Sergio Perez by a huge margin.

Max Verstappen has won all but three races so far in 2023. Moreover, the Dutch driver has won most of the Sprint races as well. Certainly, this has made the 26-year-old the favorite for virtually all races this season. As the rest of the grid still trails behind the three-time world champion and the Red Bull RB-19.
Strong Saturday! Felt good out there today, we learnt a lot in a very well managed Sprint @redbullracing ? Looking forward to race day ?#BrazilGP pic.twitter.com/49fMSQwwO1

The Red Bull driver will be looking to win the remaining three races as well this year. Verstappen has already won the Brazilian GP Sprint race and looks set to take the race win as well. Fans would be looking forward to seeing another incredible drive from the three-time world champion at Interlagos as he continues to dominate the sport.
