In a recent promotional event leading up to the United States GP, Red Bull Racing’s Team Principal, Christian Horner, and their champion Max Verstappen, engaged in some playful banter at the expense of their teammate, Sergio Perez. The target of their teasing was Perez’s ever-expanding family, a subject that humorously overshadows Verstappen’s impressive three championship victories.

Red Bull and Verstappen enter the United States GP as the reigning world champions. The Dutchman clinched both titles with five remarkable races remaining in the season. What makes this achievement even more remarkable is that it occurred during a Saturday Sprint race, where Max didn’t even need to complete the full distance as his closest rival and teammate crashed out of the race. The banter was shared by a Verstappen fan on X, captured from the event.

With these achievements in mind, Christian Horner couldn’t resist a playful jab at Perez during the promotional event. Horner, addressing the crowd’s excitement, humorously remarked.

You've got more babies than he's [Max] got championships.

The statement elicited a hearty burst of laughter from the audience, showcasing the camaraderie and bond shared within the Red Bull team. The Mexican, unfazed by the jest, playfully pointed at Max Verstappen and retorted, “He is gonna catch up.” Max, who shares a great rapport with Perez, joined in the laughter, embracing the playful banter. The Dutchman has won all his titles since Perez started his voyage with Red Bull.

Max Verstappen jokes that Sergio Perez is planning his own football team

Perez’s personal life is indeed as colorful as his on-track career. He and Carola Martinez tied the knot in 2018 after many years of being in a relationship, and together, they have welcomed four beautiful children into the world. Their children’s names and birthdates are as follows: Sergio Jr. (December 21, 2017), Carlota (September 15, 2019), Emilio (May 15, 2022), and a newborn daughter born just two months ago.

The humor didn’t end there, as the Red Bull Co. Couldn’t resist poking fun at Perez’s growing family. Horner even claimed that Perez had had a baby after every holiday. When Perez answered a question, Horner said, “Dude, is that it now? Is four finished, or are you going to keep going?” Verstappen didn’t miss the opportunity to taunt him, added,

I think he wants to make a football team; he wants a starting 11.

As the United States Grand Prix approaches, Sergio Perez faces the challenge of maintaining his position as the runner-up in the championship standings. With the Austin GP adopting a sprint format, his experience and expertise will be crucial in maximizing the limited practice time available. The team is now focused on bringing home Sergio Perez as the vice-champion of 2023.
