After his disappointing 2023 F1 season, Sergio Perez finally seems to be back to optimum performance. The Mexican has had three podiums out of four races and seems to be more in tune with the Red Bulls RB20.

Sergio Perez also impressed in Japan, having a very close qualifying battle with Max Verstappen and then securing an impressive P2 in the race. Following his brilliant start to the season, Christian Horner spoke about how the Mexican is doing exactly what is needed to retain his seat for next year.

It’s his seat to loose. He is doing a good job, and qualified within a tenth of Max. So, he is doing exactly is needed of him.

Horner hinted that the number 11 will retain his Red Bull seat if he continues performing as he has done in the early rounds of the ongoing season. Only time will tell whether the Mexican can continue to perform at such a high level throughout this year to secure a contract extension.

Horner added how important it was to bounce back for Red Bull, following their disappointing outing in Melbourne. He complimented both his drivers and how winning in Suzuka means a lot to them as it is Honda’s home track.

It’s great to bounce back with a 1-2 finish here in Japan, Honda’s homeland. Great drive from Max and also Checo again putting in a very strong performance.

The Milton-Keynes-based team was fired up for the Grand Prix as they did almost everything perfectly to maximize their result throughout the weekend. Only time will tell if a rival outfit or driver will be able to compete with them from the upcoming Chinese Grand Prix onwards.
