Christian Horner shuts down rumors of Red Bull using a new lightweight chassis on Max Verstappen’s RB18 at Spa

Christian Horner
Christian Horner was left amazed by the showing of Max Verstappen during the Belgian Grand Prix and while there was jubilation in the Red Bull camp, rumors also swirled of the team putting on a new chassis on the Dutchman’s car.
However, all those rumors have been put to bed by Christian Horner as he has indicated that no new chassis was added to aid Max Verstappen during his brilliant outing at Spa.
On the back of his mega drive, Max was able to win the race after starting from P14 and now after 14 rounds, has created a buffer of 93 points over second place Sergio Perez in the Drivers Championship.

After the race, Horner was bombarded with questions about the team using a new chassis on the 24-year-old’s car or planning to use one in the near future and as a response, the Brit said, “No, we didn’t bring it and no, we don’t have one, So no, it wasn’t a factor in the performance.”

Christian Horner on the new derivative of FIA to tackle porpoising

For the second half of the 2022 F1 season, FIA has come up with new technical derivatives to tackle the problem of porpoising, and Horner while dwelling over it added, “A lot was made, and a lot of expectation was placed on that TD and arguably, perhaps it has hurt others more than it has hurt ourselves.”
“We haven’t really changed how we operate the car. Obviously, grounding [at Spa] is always an issue because of Eau Rouge but that is not unique to us, that is the same for every team.”
Moreover, while answering questions about Red Bull having altered the carbon fiber of the chassis in order to have additional gains, Horner added, “That’s a technical question that is beyond certainly my technical capability, but no, we’re not changing the weave.”
“These chassis will run and run and run for the next few races.”

Christian Horner has confirmed that Red Bull has no plans of changing the chassis on the RB18s any time soon and that they are going to run them as much as possible.
However, there are still 8 races left in the season, and considering what Horner has said, it is going to be fascinating to see for how long the team would be able to stretch its chassis that are currently in use.
