Christian Horner sings praise of Fernando Alonso while taking a slight dig at his age

Asturian Fernando Alonso has been in Formula 1 for almost 24 years across multiple teams and outfits. Alonso was crowned the world champion on two occasions with Renault. However, the Spaniard is just 42 year old and still continuing in the sport as fresh as yesterday and has no plans of retiring anytime soon.
Additionally, Alonso’s shift to Aston Martin helped the Veteran to score great results down the season. Although the team had a downgrade in performance following the mid-season break, the 42-year-old finished in a great spot overall. As a result, this further helped Alonso to receive more compliments from the grid despite a dip in performance from the team.
Hence, amidst the preparations for the following season, Christian Horner praised the former world champion for his recent performances. Horner mentioned that Alonso drove brilliantly in the previous year. However, the Briton made a backhanded compliment about the veteran and asserted that for his age, he drove exceptionally well.
Fernando was brilliant (last year). He drove fantastically well. For a 42-year-old guy, I thought he was outstanding.

Following the 2023 season, the team is preparing for the mountainous challenge of keeping up with the development down the season. Although the team challenged the Red Bulls during the start of the season in 2023, the team fell in terms of performance and hence fell down the pecking order very quickly. However, Alonso has talked highly about the upcoming season of Formula 1 and displayed optimism.
Regardless of the results in the previous season, Aston Martin had displayed a great improvement arc. Hence, amidst this Alonso asserted that everyone in the team was working at their 100% capacity. Additionally, the Veteran reminisced about the season and insisted that the 2024 season will be even better for the team.
The team has been constantly developing their chassis for the challenges in the upcoming season. In addition to this, Alonso has been pushing forward to score his 33rd victory in Formula 1. The Veteran has talked about his future plans after retirning from Formula 1 on multiple occasions and it seems that the 42-year-old isn’t done with Formula 1 yet.
