Max Verstappen has achieved incredible success with Red Bull in recent years. The Dutch driver has won two back-to-back F1 titles, with a third championship seeming inevitable. On the other hand, Verstappen’s teammates at the Milton Keynes-based team have often struggled against the 25-year-old. Red Bull team boss Christian Horner has responded to allegations that his team caters to the driving style of the reigning world champion.
Horner mentioned that any team tries to extract the most pace from the car. The Red Bull team boss cited the challenging nature of fast F1 cars as the potential reason for Sergio Perez‘s struggles compared to Max Verstappen. He said, “You develop the car to be as fast as possible. Sometimes a fast car is also difficult to drive. Historically this has often been the case.”
The Briton suggested that Max Verstappen was able to adapt to the car at a faster rate than his teammate. This has been the case in the past as well when the Dutchman outperformed the likes of Pierre Gasly and Alex Albon. Horner reaffirmed that Red Bull does not build the car to aid Verstappen. The 49-year-old stated, as reported by FormulaPassion. It, “Max can quickly adapt to the level of grip. We don’t design the car around a particular driver.”

The two-time world champion recently dismissed claims of Red Bull trying to aid his driving style. Nevertheless, Max Verstappen is one of the few drivers in F1 history who have adapted to any machinery at their disposal, and the results speak for themselves. The Dutchman currently ties with Sebastian Vettel for the most wins in a row with nine back-to-back victories.
As the F1 paddock heads to Monza for the Italian GP, Verstappen would be looking to rewrite history with a tenth win in a row. This would further solidify the Dutchman as an all-time great. Certainly, the Red Bull driver would have the upper hand this weekend as he continues his staggering success at the pinnacle of motorsport.
Thus, Christian Horner has clarified that Red Bull does not develop the car to suit Max Verstappen. The Dutch driver simply manages to get the most out of the car right away as compared to his teammate. This has allowed the two-time world champion to succeed with the Milton Keynes-based team as he continues his winning streak.
