Christian Horner, the Red Bull Team Principal, has recently discussed the media’s antics around Sergio Perez in the recent F1 events. The Mexican driver was going through a tough period at the pinnacle of motor racing before the summer break and was in the unforgiving scope of the media because of it.
While Sergio Perez was trying his best to get out of the rut during the recent F1 races, Christian Horner feels the media also played its part in piling on additional pressure. He ardently believes that the media could have been more considerate as it is not easy to get out of a poor run instantaneously.
While talking about the same during the ongoing Formula 1 summer break, he told ESPN Unlapped, “He’s not only got the data to stare down the barrels, he’s got you guys to deal with who brief him every weekend ‘Why aren’t you at your teammate’s level. Nobody is at his teammate’s (Max Verstappen) level.
The 49-year-old has made it clear that he was unhappy with how the media treated his driver during the first leg of the 2023 F1 season. Moreover, he has indicated that reaching Max Verstappen’s level is not an easy thing to do, and for that, Perez should not have come under the kind of pressure he was forced to operate under.

Christian Horner and Co. are on track to winning the 2023 title
While Christian Horner has ripped into the media for their antics around Sergio Perez before the ongoing summer break, he has several reasons to be pleased about. The RB19 has performed brilliantly so far in the season, and none of the other teams can stand up against its might.
Moreover, while Sergio Perez has had his ups and downs, Max Verstappen has performed superbly without putting even a single step wrong. This has massively helped Red Bull in compensating for the points that were lost because of Perez’s 2023 woes. As things stand, the Milton-Keynes-based team is cruising at the front.
Red Bull has got a healthy lead over its rivals in both Championships and is looking set to clinch the titles again this year. The outfit has won all 12 races so far and Helmut Marko has recently made it known that they are going to do their best to secure the win in all the remaining races during the second leg of the season.
