Red Bull team is flying high after a 1-2 finish in enemy soil at Imola. The team were in a desperate need of a comeback after losing valuable points in the championships to its rival, Ferrari. Under the new rules and regulations, the Red Bull and Ferrari find themselves locked in a season long battle with the best packages on the grid. Ferrari managing to score in each four rounds of the season, lead Red Bull in constructors championship by 11 points. Red Bull facing reliability issues has fallen behind its competitor.

The Milton Keynes based team scored a haul of 58 points out of the 59 available at Imola. Ever since the season commenced, Ferrari has been struggling with the problem of porpoising on its F1-75. However, Red Bull is on the top of this problem, with the RB18 not being effected around any part of the track. Christian Horner joked about the situation saying, “My foot was tapping more than Charles Leclerc’s helmet.”

Red Bull has failed to cross the chequered flag 3 times on race day this season. The reliability of the RB18 remained unknown coming to Imola and was an essential aspect for the team to score maximum points. Elaborating on this, Christian Horner said “The problem with a race like that is the last 10-15 laps, you can only lose and the weather, there are reports of spots of rain coming and all the reliability things start coming into your mind. You can see it’s easy to put a wheel on a wet kerb or something like that so it just seems to take forever those last 10-15 laps but it’s always a relief to see the chequered flag.”

The team were able to turn the tide due to the fast pace and reliability of the Honda engine. Horner commented on this saying “It was a phenomenal team performance and I think all credit to the drivers, to the team at the track and all the guys and girls back in Milton Keynes. The support we have had in Japan from Sakura, from HRC, has been amazing so a phenomenal weekend.”

The 2022 season with a prospect of 19 races yet to come, Red Bull delivered statement with a 1-2 finish. The team showed their calibre by closing the gap to Ferrari and having a flawless weekend. Red Bull continues to build on this momentum and would be ready to take the fight back to Ferrari, once again at the Miami Grand Prix.
