Christian Horner and Red Bull Racing completely demolished the competition at the Red Bull Ring. The 2023 Austrian GP will be known for two things with the first being Max Verstappen’s high risk pitstop in the end and also the plethora of post race penalties. Track limits seemed to be a big and controversial issue all throughout the weekend, yet Verstappen stayed unfazed by the issues and went on to do what he does best.

Max Verstappen went on to claim his fifth win at Austria last weekend. the Dutchman had previously had a conversation with the higher ups at Red Bull where they talked about, naming the track after him, if he wins five races. Max seems to have a complex that goal so it will be interesting to see what Christian Horner will do. However, the Dutchman’s record of leading every lap came to a conclusion as Charles Leclerc led the race for a few laps when Max pitted.

Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez eventually ended the race finishing P1 and P3 respectively. A double podium for the bulls at their home race was just what was expected from them. The car that the team has created for 2023 turned out to be an absolute beast dominating like no other. In pursuit of his Austrian GP win, Max went on to pit in the ending stages and lost a 21 second lead just so he could get fresh tyres to get the fastest lap and he did. Christian Horner talked about that incident and how it was a low risk decision and gave his stance on Max’s season.

In an interview, here is what he had to say. “He’s in incredible form and the team’s operating at such a high level that you know the win yesterday, the win today, you know that matches I think our best in season run of results. So, you know an incredible performance. So yeah, we just want to keep it going.”stated Horner. ”We can only take it one race at a time. I mean can we? Yes. Will we? Who knows. I mean reliability, weather. You know Silverstone next weekend is gonna be epic,” he continued.

Christian Horner must be overjoyed at this point as Red Bull leads the constructors championship by 199 points with the help of Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen. The Dutchman on the other hand leads the driver’s world championship by 81 points. All in all, the team sits comfortably on top of the standings for both the championships ahead of Silverstone. With the team being in such a good form, it will be interesting to see how long it will last.
