Christian Horner has found himself in a tough spot. The 50-year-old is presently being investigated over inappropriate behavior claims made by a Red Bull employee. However, the Red Bull team boss has denied these accusations. Now it seems that the recent events have caused a rift in Horner’s longstanding friendship with aero genius Adrian Newey.

Newey left McLaren to join Red Bull in 2006. Christian Horner played a pivotal role in poaching McLaren’s top talent. This signing established Milton Keynes as a serious contender on the F1 grid. The Austrian squad has won several world titles since courtesy of Adrian Newey’s innovative designs including Max Verstappen‘s three championships.

Previously, it was reported that Christian Horner and Adrian Newey have clauses in their contracts that safeguard one another. However, as per the latest reports, the friendship bond between the two has broken entirely. So much so that Newey has assured Red Bull that he will continue with the team even if Horner is forced to resign.

Will Christian Horner leave Red Bull?

Christian Horner has been an integral part of Red Bull Racing since the energy drinks giant took over Jaguar at the end of 2004. The 50-year-old’s leadership has witnessed the ground-breaking success of Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen. However, it seems that the Briton might be running out of time to save his career in F1.

It must be noted that there has been no official information about the details of the case against Horner. However, Red Bull GmbH has taken this matter seriously. Subsequently, a decision will be made at the earliest with Christian Horner appearing before the investigators on Friday, February 8. The 50-year-old seems to have lost the support of Newey and Helmut Marko.

Certainly, Christian Horner’s future as a team boss depends on the verdict of the investigation. The Briton has denied all claims. However, it is a serious investigation and fans need to wait for the verdict before making any assumptions regarding the same. As such, it remains to be seen if Horner is cleared of all charges or shown the door in the coming days.
