Christian Horner’s wife Geri Halliwell shines at the Cannes Film Festival with Orlando Bloom and fellow ‘Gran Turismo’ movie cast

The Cannes Film Festival has already seen some familiar faces from the Formula One world grace the gala event with their presence, and now, Red Bull’s main man Christian Horner‘s wife, Geri Halliwell, was spotted there recently. The former Spice Girls star turned heads in a pristine white ensemble as she was present at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès, Cannes, for a special promotion of the big-budget Hollywood movie that she is associated with.
The last time Geri Horner neé Halliwell made it to the big screens was back in 1997, for the musical comedy called ‘Spice World: The Movie’. Twenty six years later, Geri is back to honing her acting skills, for the Neill Blomkamp movie ‘Gran Turismo’. The Sony Productions project, slated for a worldwide release on August 11, 2023, is based on the true story of a video gamer who got the opportunity to participate in a real-life car race, thanks to Sony.
‘Gran Turismo’ is quite famous among the videogame aficionados, and its movie adaptation will feature Archie Madekwe as the protagonist Jann Mardenborough. He will be seen as the video gamer who gets the biggest chance of a lifetime as he is picked amongst 90,000 contestants to win GT Academy, winning a chance to race at the Dubai 24 Hour race. Geri Horner will be playing Jann’s mother, and the huge Hollywood A-lister Orlando Bloom, who accompanied Geri at Cannes, will have a significant role in the movie too.
Geri Halliwell is the best pick for the racing-themed movie ‘Gran Turismo’
‘Gran Turismo’ is based on a young gamer’s journey into the real-life racing world, and parts of the movie has been shot at some actual tracks and circuits. Geri Halliwell is closely linked to racing through her relation with husband Christian Horner, Team Principal of the current Formula 1 Championship-leading team Red Bull. Thus, it is a no-brainer that Geri can bring her character to life because she is familiar with the life of someone who is an integral part of the racing world, thanks to Christian Horner.
As Geri Halliwell posed for a photocall in Cannes while attending the Film Festival, Orlando Bloom, and some other ‘Gran Turismo’ cast members joined the 50-year-old. Meanwhile, Christian Horner could not accompany his wife at the event in France because he is currently busy preparing for the Monaco Grand Prix which is right around the corner. Other stars from the F1 world who were seen at the Cannes Film Festival include Pierre Gasly, Esteban Ocon, and Max Verstappen’s girlfriend Kelly Piquet.
