For Red Bull racer Sergio Perez, the purple patch seems to have arrived now as he just became the most successful Mexican F1 racer after winning the Monaco Grand Prix last weekend. For Checo, it is a giant win as he has now proven to all that he deserves to drive alongside the reigning World Champion Max Verstappen in the Red Bull seat.
Sergio Perez was virtually without a seat towards the end of 2020, and he had thought he might have to consider other options besides F1 if no other team signed him. But then, to all his fans’ excitement and joy, he was contacted by Red Bull for replacing Alex Albon as the Thai-British driver exited F1 for the year.
F1 Analyst Martin Brundle has revealed his own remarks on Sergio Perez and why the Mexican has had such an impressive record this year till now, barring the reliability issues he faced with his RB-18 in the initial races.
Martin Brundle believes Sergio Perez is the perfect driver for this year’s F1 season
SkySports F1 Analyst Martin Brundle has got some insights on Sergio Perez’s driving style in the Red Bull RB-18 that deserve some special mention. According to Brundle, Sergio has got an advantage over Max Verstappen this year because “the new ground-effect aerodynamic 2022 cars clearly suit his driving style.”
Now, Sergio Perez has had quite some impressive results as a Red Bull racer, and his performance has persuaded the executives at the Milton-Keynnes-based team enough for them to sign him for a two-year contract extension recently. As a part of the terms of this deal, Sergio Perez will drive for Red Bull till the end of 2024, and that period might be extended further.
Speaking of Sergio Perez’s skills that he has exhibited by consistently performing well in all the races this season, Martin Brundle said the Mexican is much more at ease with the new regulations that the FIA have introduced this year than his teammate Max Verstappen, who is struggling with the same rule changes.
