NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr. recently had a chat with Hendrick Motorsports driver and 2020 Cup champion Chase Elliot last week in the Dale Jr. Download podcast. During the conversation, Junior detailed to the No:9 Chevy driver how he inspired him to try late model racing at the tail end of his career in competitive Motorsports.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. has always had an interest in late model racing but was never able to do this because he was scared of embarrassing himself by losing. But when he saw, Chase Elliott racing in the Chilly Bowl, he was inspired to overlook the fear failure and embrace the challenge.

I've had late models forever and I've always wanted to race them but I've always been scared to do it. I didnt want to get my ass kicked and then when i saw you do the Chilly Bowl, you literally doing these things encouraged me. This old fu**** to run his late model car at the end of his life.

It looks like the Hendrick Motorsports driver really had a positive impact on Dale Earnhardt Jr. Junior later added how he is very thankful to Chase Elliot for this as it got him something fun to do this late into his racing career away from NASCAR.

On the Doors Bumper Podcast, Freddie Kraft and Brett Griffin spoke about how they are disappointed with the decision from the from the NASCAR star driver. According to them, the driver isn’t doing as much as he can to bring in more fans.

I completely understand what Chase is saying but that is not how this game is played. I promise you every driver in the field would like to just solely focus on going fast and solely focus on whatever is gonna make them a better race car driver. But there’s a while other side to this and that is the business side of this motorsports and you can’t just rely on ‘I’m not gonna do that because it’s gonna slow me down on the race track.
Freddie Kraft said on the Doors Bumper Podcast.

Kraft further added how just solely focusing on racing isn’t enough as NASCAR in the end is a business as well. Former driver Brett Griffin also agreed to this and added how drivers need to do all that is needed to make the sport grow.
