Sergio Perez has had a torrid time behind the wheel of the RB19 this year. He has not been able to perform at the level of his teammate, Max Verstappen, and thus, has come under tremendous pressure from all angles. While his struggles don’t look like ending anytime soon, Daniel Ricciardo has sympathized with Perez.
Obviously, I hear the rumors throughout the paddock. Of course, it is my goal, after going through ups and downs in my career, it would be a dream for me to come back and race for Red Bull Racing again, but some things are not under my control. There is a lot of pressure.Danniel Ricciardo told Esto
Daniel Ricciardo was in a similar boat during his time with McLaren and believes that the struggles are a part of being an F1 driver. He further added:
I was in a similar position last year when people said: 'he's doing very poorly at McLaren compared to Lando. Why is he still racing? He should get out of the sport. There are 20 people in the world who do it. So for sure, we are always going to feel some pressure when we don't get 100% out of the car.
Sergio Perez despite all his best efforts, has only managed to triumph in two Grand Prix in comparison to Max Verstappen’s 15 so far in the 2023 F1 season.
Daniel Ricciardo is eyeing a strong end to the 2023 F1 season
While Daniel Ricciardo has given a detailed view of Sergio Perez’s 2023 F1 struggles, he for his own best interests, will be looking to end the ongoing campaign on a strong note. Ricciardo recently signed a one-year contract extension at AlphaTauri but his main goal still is to race for Red Bull again.
Since returning to the F1 grid, he has several times made it known that his main goal is to secure the Red Bull F1 seat in the upcoming years. While he has signed a new deal for next year with AlphaTauri, there could arise a situation where Red Bull might show Perez the exit door at the end of this campaign.

If this happens to be the case, Daniel Ricciardo would be the favorite to secure the second seat on the Red Bull F1 team for next year. He has previously done well for the team and has a very real chance of doing well for them again, all he needs is one more opportunity to race with the mighty Austrian outfit.
