As Formula 1 entered its winter hibernation, drivers are relishing their off-season respite away from the intensity of high-speed racing. Among them is AlphaTauri‘s beloved Australian racer, Daniel Ricciardo, who appears to have seamlessly transitioned from the cockpit of an F1 car to the saddle of a motorcycle.

Ricciardo navigated a rollercoaster of a season in 2023. Initially brought in as a mid-season replacement for Nyck de Vries at AlphaTauri, following de Vries’ lackluster performances, Ricciardo’s adventure with the team was cut short after just two races. A crash at Zandvoort led to hand surgery, but he made a commendable return at the United States Grand Prix, delivering strong performances for the remainder of the season.

Despite the challenges faced during the 2023 season, AlphaTauri has confirmed its commitment to the current driver lineup, pairing Ricciardo with Yuki Tsunoda. This decision sets the stage for Ricciardo to vie for Sergio Perez‘s coveted Red Bull seat in the upcoming 2024 season. Meanwhile, amid the off-season, Ricciardo is enjoying a relaxing period, cherishing moments with his family before gearing up for the competitive challenges ahead.

In the video, “Uncle” Daniel, as affectionately dubbed by fans, is seen joyfully riding a mini motorcycle or pocket bike from the back seat, accompanied by his nephew steering from the front. Donning a VR headset and casual shorts, the video resonated with fans, eliciting collective admiration for this endearing family moment.

Christian Horner speaks about Daniel Ricciardo’s chances for a Red Bull seat in 2025

In a recent revelation, Red Bull Team Principal Christian Horner hinted at an open field for the 2025 driver lineup, asserting, “Everything is open.” In the interview with F1, he praised the success of Max Verstappen and Perez, who secured a historic 1-2 finish for Red Bull in the drivers’ standings. However, Horner pointed out that Perez must enhance his Saturday performances in the upcoming 2024 season.

A couple of weeks ago, Ricciardo too expressed his aspiration to conclude his career with Red Bull, deeming it “perfect.” Despite not specifying a timeline, Ricciardo conveyed his enthusiasm, stating, “To end my career as a Red Bull driver would be perfect.” With Perez’s contract set to expire at the end of 2024, the 2025 season presents a pivotal opportunity for Ricciardo’s potential return to the top team.

Horner highlighted the team’s advantageous position with both internal and external options, emphasizing the importance of securing the most competitive pairing. As Red Bull aims for continued success, the unfolding narrative suggests a captivating saga in the quest for the ideal driver lineup come 2025.
