Red Bull Racing is currently basking in success, dominating the F1 grid. Their reserve driver, however, Daniel Ricciardo, is unable to partake in their tremendous showings of supremacy on the grid. He and McLaren parted ways at the end of 2022 after his poor stint, and he was left without a seat for the 2023 season. He was welcomed home at Red Bull, but only in a number-three capacity.

Ricciardo has now provided an update on his ambitions after being a spectator on the sidelines. Speaking to Total-Motorsport.com, he said, “I want to keep learning with the team and see what else I can absorb over the next few races. I do want to get back next year.” He insisted that he has put his torrid stint at the team from Woking behind him.

He added, “I do want to compete. I feel more refreshed, and obviously, I’ve flushed out a difficult two years. So I’m in a good place.” The Aussie hit the lowest point of his career at McLaren over his two years of service, despite securing their only race win. His duration there was marred by substandard showings, struggling to work harmoniously with the car.

Ricciardo exhibited his reserve driver role by supporting the team during the Australian and Miami Grand Prix. He has enjoyed a break from F1, forced as it may have been, but is optimistic about being back in a car next season and is ready to show the world that he is far from finished.

Despite not being part of the 2023 F1 grid, Ricciardo maintains a strong conviction that he still has more to offer in the sport. He expresses the belief that there is unfinished business within him, having never clinched a world championship. Throughout a significant portion of his career, he consistently fought for victories or podium finishes, and he believes that he is on par with, if not superior to, his competitors.

The Aussie superstar remains eager to return to the F1 grid in the coming years. Despite never having claimed a World Championship, he strongly believes in his skills and is fully confident in his ability to remind people of his exceptional talent as an F1 driver. “The king of overtaking” is not done, and he intends to remind the world of his prime self at Red Bull.

Nevertheless, the F1 driver market is highly competitive, with numerous talented young drivers vying for opportunities yearly. As an experienced professional, Ricciardo may face challenges securing a racing seat due to his age. However, F1 is renowned for its unpredictable nature, and the Australian can make a comeback. If the right circumstances present themselves, he may yet have a chance to grace the F1 circuit once again.
