F1 pundit claims Williams team boss James Vowles is the ‘perfect choice’ to develop Logan Sargeant
David Croft reckoned that James Vowles was the best choice for an F1 team boss to develop a driver like Logan Sargeant.

Williams made the bold decision to sign Logan Sargeant for the 2023 F1 season. The American driver made his debut with the Grove-based team, However, Sargeant seemed to have struggled during his first season in the sport. F1 presenter David Croft believes that Williams Team Principal James Vowles was the ideal team boss to help the 23-year-old.
Crofty reckoned that Vowles best choice as an F1 team boss for developing young drivers. Moreover, the Briton claimed that the Williams team boss was the right man to help Logan Sargeant find more pace. Although, it would be upto the 44-year-old to work with the American driver and make progress this year.
He [James Vowles] was the perfect choice for a team principal if you wanted someone to help driver development. I think if anyone can get the best out of Logan Sargeant it will be James [Vowles]. David Croft reaffirmed that James Vowles was the best person to take up this role. Moreover, the F1 presenter claimed that he expected to see Sargeant at Williams for another season. As Vowles would likely be working with the American driver to ensure that he can be more consistent in his second year at the pinnacle of motorsport.
But I think [Vowles] is a perfect man for that and it didn’t surprise me that they kept Logan on for that reason.
James Vowles aims to rebuild Williams Racing
The historic Williams Racing fell right at the bottom of the F1 pecking order in the past few years. However, new owners, Dorilton Capital hired James Vowles to lead the squad from 2023. Subsequently, Vowles brought in his expertise and knowledge from Mercedes which had dominated the sport for seven seasons.
The 44-year-old has not been afraid of mentioning Williams’ shortcomings, including infrastructure. James Vowles is on a long-term mission at the Grove-based team. As it would take a few years before the British squad could be on the same level as its more established rivals due to a lack of investment in the past two decades.
Certainly, James Vowles is willing to make Williams succeed in F1. The 44-year-old has been working on all aspects of the team including its drivers. As such, fans could expect Vowles to try and help out Logan Sargeant in the upcoming F1 season. Although, it remains to be seen if the Williams team boss can help the team make further progress this year.
