“Decision on F1 future can’t be emotional,” Daniel Ricciardo intends to be objective in assessing his options
Daniel Ricciardo
Daniel Ricciardo’s future might be about to come to an end unless one of the teams step in to offer him a contract. McLaren made the decision of letting go Daniel Ricciardo before the Belgian GP. All of this confusion started when Sebastian Vettel decided to retire from Formula 1 at the end of the 2022 season. Aston Martin quickly jumped in to sign Fernando Alonso.
This in turn meant that that Alpine had to look for a new driver for the next season. The ideal replacement was expected to be their reserve driver, Oscar Piastri. But, it didn’t go down as it was expected to as Piastri turned down driving for Alpine. This became a legal issue and eventually McLaren came out on top as the decision went in their favor.
Since McLaren got their man, Daniel Ricciardo will be left with no team as things stand. The Australian’s performances haven’t been up to the mark this season and has been utterly dominated by his team mate, Lando Norris. But, everything is not done for the ex Red Bull driver as there are teams who are interested in getting the signature of him for the next season.
DDaniel Ricciardo in no rush to take a call on his F1 future
Daniel Ricciardo talking about the possible options said, “Everything is also too fresh. What I guess what you’ve got to be careful of, and this is just in general, is especially with a decision like this, nothing can be emotional.”
“So that’s why I kind of want to kind of speak about it once the triple header is finished. Spa was Spa, but all of a sudden, we’re back into another weekend. So I probably won’t get a chance to fully switch off and sit back until the end of the triple header.”
“So I’m not really telling them ‘no’, to anything for now. It’s like, let’s get everything there. And then after the triple header, maybe see what’s available.”
“And I’ll probably know more where my head’s at, and then start to maybe tick off and cross off some. I say it like there’s going to be a million options. Probably not! But yeah, I’m being very open-minded.”
Daniel Ricciardo still definitely has the potential to deliver at the biggest stages of them all. It’s imperative for him to find the right project before he takes the decision.
