“DRS wouldn’t open,” Lewis Hamilton disappointed after an intermittent problem hampers his chance to fight for pole at the Hungarian GP
Lewis Hamilton
Lewis Hamilton ended his Hungarian Qualifying with disappointment. He only managed a P7 after suffering from DRS issues while lapping his second round of Q3. Mercedes really looked good with a decent pace to back the drivers to perform their best. Although the silver arrows were on the verge of getting disqualified in Q2 the silver arrow managed to get a really good lap entering Q3. The last part of qualifying made Mercedes look like a possible candidate for the pole position.
Hamilton expressed his disappointment after giving our promising lap times. He understands his chance of a missed pole position due to the DRS issue. He still managed a 1:18.142 and had to settle behind Fernando Alonso. Last time around Alonso troubled Lewis in the same circuit which ultimately led to a missed victory for the 7-time world champion.
However, Hamilton’s teammate managed to get the pole ahead of both the Ferrari. This gives the 37-year-old hope to get a good strike in tomorrow’s race.
“Yeah, I tried to open the DRS and it wouldn’t open, so a bit unfortunate,” Hamilton said as reported by PlanetF1.
Hamilton hoped for a fight that would have definitely gifted him a front start tomorrow.
“Front row was definitely there, so [it] would have been awesome to have got a front row for the team, but these things happen,” said Hamilton.

Lewis Hamilton went ahead to congratulate George Russell
George Russell took the first pole position of his career and also the first Mercedes pole in the struggling 2022 season. Russell managed to beat both the Ferraris and will start on P1 for tomorrow’s race. Lewis Hamilton took some hope from the lap George managed to put in his final run. He congratulated his teammate and hoped for a better start tomorrow.
“Congratulations to George, he did an amazing job and it’s a great result for the team given all that we’ve gone through. That’s huge. So, really happy for everyone. We definitely didn’t expect that,” said Lewis Hamilton.
Lewis is behind the pack but could easily recover the ruins with a good race pace. But he has a few troubles on his way to the top. The first one is Fernando Alonso starting right ahead of him. Second is his rival Max Verstappen who is starting P10 after an engine failure. Max would push to the line and will definitely have a fight with Lewis getting to the top.
