With the news of Lewis Hamilton joining Ferrari from 2025 onwards, another camp of fans and experts is focused on where will the outgoing Carlos Sainz end up. There are rumors that the Spaniard will join Sauber which would be the Audi F1 team in 2026. Former F1 team owner Eddie Jordan believes that joining Audi would be an uphill battle that he will have to contend with.
Jordan is the former owner of the Jordan F1 team in which Michael Schumacher made his debut in 1991. He has warned the Spaniard to think about joining the Audi Works entry in 2026 as it will be a tough task to score well in the start.
If you’re telling me Audi can come in and beat McLaren and come in and beat the likes of even Aston Martin perhaps, or Ferrari for that matter? Or anyone else? It’s going to be a big struggle.

The Irish believe that even if Audi is spending all of their money, it would be tough for them to even come close to winning at the very start of their endeavor. He gives examples of Toyota, BMW and even Red Bull took 5 years to get their first win. Sainz would be looking for a seat for the 2025 season and is in a tough spot to decide where his future can lead him.
What are the options for Carlos Sainz?
Sainz is a high-caliber driver and performed excellently last season. He got the only non-Red Bull win last season in the Singapore GP. He had the ambition to extend his contract with the Italian outfit but is now on the hunt for a new seat for the 2025 season.

The Spaniard is a well-respected driver on the grid for his driving ability. There are multiple options on the table for him but only a few options are viable. A dream return to the Red Bull family would be too optimistic as Ricciardo has his sights on the second seat at Red Bull.
On the other hand, joining Mercedes is the most likely option as it would be an easy “switcheroo” between Ferrari and the Silver Arrows. Audi is still on the cars but it would be a long-term plan so, Sainz would be ready to join any team that is capable of fighting for podiums and wins, but the ultimate decision would be his.
