The 1992 F1 World Champion Nigel Mansell claims the Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton‘s 8th World Championship is not far away. Mansell is a known Mercedes supporter who believes Hamilton is one of the greatest ever to grace the world of motorsports. The Briton thinks if Hamilton gets the right car, which the team is pretty much working towards, he might be on his way to his record-breaking 8th title.
Hamilton is tied with F1 legend Michael Schumacher for most Driver’s Championships, with seven each. The Mercedes driver is having a best-of-the-rest-like season in this Red Bull dominance. He leads the pack after the Red Bull drivers and is only 30 points behind the second Reb Bull driver, Sergio Perez. His trust in the car is slowly returning, as he previously thrashed the team for not listening to him.
If Mercedes came up with a car, Lewis could do the job again,Yes, I believe he can win another World Championship. I think Lewis has an opportunity, which is almost cemented in place already. He is one of the greatest ever [...] And I think if you give him another world championship, that will set the benchmark very high, it’ll be very, very difficult for any other driver to achieve that again. So, it’s all open there for the taking.Mansell said, as reported by Silverarrows.net,
Lewis Hamilton’s thoughts on his 8th World Championship
After Hamilton’s near-missed title in 2021, nearly every fan thought about Hamilton wanting revenge on Max Verstappen. However, the Briton ended all these speculations, saying that revenge wasn’t why he was still here. According to him, he just wants to win again, and if possible, he wants to win a championship with Mercedes.
Asked about where he gets the motivation to still drive with the utmost fierceness, Hamilton replied, “Tom Brady.” The seven-time World Champion is close friends with Brady, who pushes him to achieve greater heights like Brady in the last part of his career. He wishes if he gets the proper car soon, he will bring back the team where it belongs.
Lewis Hamilton is currently 38 years old. His current contract will see him race in Formula 1 when he is 40. He also showed respect for Aston Martin driver Fernando Alonso, who’s still going at it with full motivation at 42 years old.
