The CEO of Liberty Media, Greg Maffei, has made it known that F1 will reap huge rewards from the F1 movie, which involves Lewis Hamilton and Brad Pitt. He has even gone on to indicate that the movie is going to have the potential to completely overshadow the positive impact of the hit Netflix series, Drive to Survive. The production of the movie is set to kick off in a few weeks’ time.

The hype around the tie-up of Lewis Hamilton and Brad Pitt for the F1 movie is huge. While talking about the same, Maffei added, “A Brad Pitt movie with Lewis Hamilton consulting and with Bruckheimer and with the director from Top Gun Maverick. We’ve already seen some of what they’re going to do and how they’re going to skin these cars. They took the technology from Top Gun. It’s going to be amazing.”

Moreover, the CEO has made it known that the pinnacle of motor racing cannot depend on Netflix for its promotion forever and while stressing about it, he added, “Drive to Survive is wonderful. But we cannot rely on Drive to Survive to be our only promotion vehicle forever. You’ve got to keep it fresh. Change the game. That’s one of the things I’d like to think we’ve done with the team entering Formula 1, credit to Stefano [Domenicali, CEO]. What we’ve done more recently around other kinds of Instagram and TikTok and the like, we’re keeping it fresh and different.”

Looking at the comments of Greg Maffei, it is quite clear that F1 is going to push as much as possible in order to reach a wider audience. He has further revealed that while Netflix has done wonders for the pinnacle of motor racing, the sport is going to tap into every means possible to take the sport to a whole new level. As a first step in that direction, Maffei feels the Brad Pitt-Lewis Hamilton movie will help massively in increasing the popularity of the sport.
