F1 Azerbaijan GP- WATCH: “D***head,” A furious Max Verstappen confronts George Russell after Sprint drama

Max Verstappen and George Russell

Max Verstappen, the Red Bull driver, has blasted George Russell for hindering his progress during the Azerbaijan Sprint race. The two made contact on lap, one, and because of that, the Dutchman lost a lot of pace compared to Charles Leclerc and Sergio Perez. Despite all his efforts, he could only muster up a P3 finish.

After the sprint race, while discussing the event, George Russell talked about his woes and said, “I had no grip.” However, despite Russell’s reason for contacting Verstappen, the latter had none of it. Moreover, when the Dutchman’s turn came to talk about the incident, he said, “We all have no grip! We all need to leave a little bit of space….Expect next time the same, no? d***head.”

Looking at Verstappen’s reaction, it is clear that he does not deem George Russell’s explanation as reason enough for making contact with him. In his opinion, Russell could have been extra cautious and could have avoided colliding with his RB19. The collision cost both drivers dearly during the race.

Had Verstappen not found himself in a tussle with Russell, he could have had a great chance of landing his car in P1 at the end of the Azerbaijan Sprint race. However, despite ending in P3, the reigning World Champion was able to put on board six valuable points in his 2023 Drivers Championship tally.

While Max Verstappen is not pleased with how his Azerbaijan GP panned out, he knows he will start tomorrow’s race from the front row. He would try his best to snatch the lead of the race away from Charles Leclerc going into Turn 1 and open up a decent gap at the front.

Both Leclerc and Verstappen are prolific drivers and would want to come out as the lead driver after Turn1, but one thing that could come to the latter’s defense is RB19’s superior race pace. The Red Bulls have got mighty speed when it comes to race trim, and an example of this has been seen in the first three races of the season.

Taking everything under consideration, who do you think would be able to come away with the bragging right from the 2023 Azerbaijan Grand Prix? Would it be Charles Leclerc or Max Verstappen? No matter what happens, one thing is almost guaranteed, and that is entertainment and a lot of exciting racing action.
