Max Verstappen has established himself as one of the most dominant drivers in F1 history. The Dutch driver had a historic run this year with a record-breaking nineteen race victories. Thus it is no surprise that many have compared the three-time champion to all-time greats of the sport. Now, F1 Presenter Martin Brundle has affirmed that Verstappen is quite similar to F1 legend Ayrton Senna.
Brundle was asked if Max Verstappen had Senna-esque attributes in his driving. The F1 pundit quickly agreed. The Briton was adamant that Verstappen had the same level of astounding car control as the late-Brazilian icon. Moreover, Martin Brundle believed that both champions had a sixth sense when it came to extracting the most out of the car.
Yeah, he is... In terms of his car control, and that sixth sense of where the grip is and what to do with it and how to salvage a car that’s heading off in the wrong direction.Martin Brundle said as reported by PlanetF1
The F1 presenter made it clear that the three-time world champion had become one of the greatest drivers in history. Certainly, Verstappen’s dominant run in 2023 impressed the entire racing world. As the Dutch driver dominated the pinnacle of motorsport with the stats speaking for themselves in the pas three seasons.
I think Max is in the making of becoming one of the greats.
Max Verstappen remains the favorite for 2024
Verstappen annihilated the competition this season including teammate Sergio Perez. Red Bull enjoyed a big pace advantage compared to rivals courtesy of the dominant RB-19. Certainly, the Austrian team will likely carryover some of that advantage into next season that would provide the perfect platform for Max Verstappen.
The Dutch driver would be looking to bag a fourth championship in a row next season. However, the 26-year-old could face a bigger threat next year as rivals work extensively over the winter. Ferrari and McLaren are perhaps the two teams that could be the closest to Milton Keynes in 2024. Although, Red Bull is expected to stay the quickest team at the start of the season.
Certainly, Max Verstappen would be aiming to continue his domination in the pinnacle of motorsport in 2024. The Dutch driver has been the person to beat on the grid with rivals not even coming close to the 26-year-old. As such, fans would be looking forward to seeing how things pan out in the upcoming F1 season.
