The 2023 Formula 1 season has only three races remaining on the calendar. While the season is ending, the rumors mill has once again picked up immense pace by bombarding the web with rumors of Fernando Alonso having a real shot at securing Sergio Perez’s Red Bull seat for 2024.

The recently concluded Mexican Grand Prix turned out to be a horror show for Sergio Perez as he got knocked out of the race on the very first lap. While he had a horrendous outing, Daniel Ricciardo had an outing to remember in his AT04. Since then, the rumor mill has been going haywire with several rumors.

Amidst all the chaos in the F1 paddock because of the ongoing shenanigans, Sky Sports pundit Craig Slater has given his opinion on Fernando Alonso’s situation. While talking about the same on the Sky Sports F1 podcast, Slater has made it quite clear that the Alonso-Red Bull rumors are nothing more than a hoax.

My understanding is that is a non-starter, it is not going to happen. As much as they admire Alonso and what he can do, he is not above Ricciardo, as far as I understand it, as an option to drive for that team next year. This is not coming officially from the team but it is not going to happen.

Fernando Alonso is most likely to continue with Aston Martin

While Craig Slater has put to bed the Fernando Alonso-Red Bull rumors, he has also made it known that the Spaniard is most likely to continue with the Aston Martin F1 team for next year.

The appetite for Aston Martin to carry on with Alonso is still pretty strong and I think it is most likely that he carries on with Aston Martin.

While the Silverstone-based team has come off the boil after setting some serious pace during the initial rounds, they still have some really bright minds in their garage. The AMR23 was the second-best car on the grid for most of the first leg of this year, and if their winter goes well, they could rise as a major threat next year as well.

Aston Martin is out of the running for fourth place in the 2023 Constructors Championship, keeping in view the form and McLaren, and considering this, the team would most probably start devoting more time toward developing the 2024 car. Fernando Alonso deserves to have a go at the F1 title at least once before he retires.
