F1 set to investigate the ultra impressive and improved Haas over their links to championship front-runner Ferrari: Report
Mattia Binotto and Guenther Steiner
Ferrari with Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz have set the ground running after an impeccable start to the season. While Charles Leclerc stands top of the driver’s championship, Ferrari also has taken a healthy lead over Mercedes in the constructor’s championship. But Ferrari isn’t the only team to catch the eye. Another team which has grabbed headlines because of their impressive performances is Haas.
Haas ever since the return of Kevin Magnussen has looked a different outfit altogether. The Danish driver marked his comeback to Formula 1 by finishing P5 at the Bahrain GP. He was also among the points in Jeddah. Although Mick Schumacher has been struggling but Kevin Magnussen’s performances have certainly raised some eyebrows in the paddock.
Without naming teams, it’s been speculated that three of Alpine, McLaren, Aston Martin and Mercedes have raised issues over Haas having links to Ferrari. The American team has Ferrari as its engine partners. Although it is pretty clear that teams are not allowed to share information but the teams wants to be clear of the relationship between the two.
Ferrari and Haas to be investigated by F1 following allegations of similarity between the two by three F1 teams
The fact that gave fuel to fire was the fact that when the Ferrari engineers who lost their job due to the imposition of the budget cap were repositioned with a role at Haas. Alpine Boss Otmar Szafnauer also gave hints regarding an FIA investigation of Haas recently when he said, “Haas is a small team that jumped from last to third place over the winter. That comes as a bit of a surprise.“
“I expected the balance of power to change with such a big rule reform changes little because it favours the teams that have more know-how and better infrastructure.”
“I am convinced that the FIA will investigate the case and come to the right conclusions about how similar these two cars are,” as quoted by foxsports.
At this given point in time, it’ll be too early for any of us to comment on the issue. We’ll have to wait for FIA to dissect the facts and come up with a ruling for us to help us understand the veracity of the allegations.
